As many of you know this weekend we have the blessing of unborn children at every Mass. It is a beautiful way to witness our commitment to all human life, especially for the weakest and most vulnerable. In the Catholic Church we celebrate life, we rejoice any time a new human life is conceived in a mother's womb. We believe that any human life is worth living. That any human life brings a message of hope from God. In each human conception God is crying out to the world, "I believe in you, there is hope left, you can make of your life something beautiful in My eyes."
We are celebrating this blessing of unborn children in the context of Easter, in the context of this Sunday's Holy Mass. The Holy sacrifice of the Mass is always a celebration of life. The risen Lord is making Himself present in today's celebration, to prepare us to receive the gift of Holy Spirit on Pentecost. Without the Holy Spirit we are too weak, too cowardly to profess our faith in our lives. Conception marks the beginning of our pilgrimage on Earth. At that moment, our parents gave us life, we began to walk on the dusty and uncertain paths of this life. This life we know will come to an end, and yet we are thirsty for eternity. That's why we come to Mass every Sunday, that's why we seek Christ so tirelessly. We must unite ourselves to Him to have eternal life. The sacraments give us the kind of life that wells up to eternity.
