Fourth Sunday of Lent (Homily)

Fourth Sunday of Lent (Homily)

March 15, 2015 5:00 pm  · Father David Mbimadong

Homilies, Lent

entry.speaker.one().title

On this fourth Sunday of Lent, the symbol of light is introduced, and it is meant to help us understand Jesus as the light of the world.

Last Sunday, Jesus was presented to use as the source of the Living Water that gives life, today He is presented as Light, light that dispels darkness. Darkness is compared to blindness, when one does not have the capacity to use his or her eyes, the person is not able to see and to admire the beauty of the world. So it is with us when we are not enlightened by Christ, the eyes of our minds can not see clearly to admire the beauty of God's creation and to admire the beauty of the Spirit that God has given us. In presenting to us, the blind man who received his sight, the Church wants to help us to understand that in Jesus Christ, when we receive his light, we become more open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, to be able to understand the Will of God in our lives, and sometimes understand better than those who who have studied and thought they knew about God all the time. This is what happened to the Pharasees.
