Third Sunday of Easter (Homily)

Third Sunday of Easter (Homily)

April 19, 2015 5:00 pm

Homilies, Easter

Father Andres: Everyday, every Sunday is an opportunity for us to celebrate the presence of God. But Easter is a joyful time, Easter is a joyful season because our focus is resurrection. All the Gospels during this season will help us to gain the spirituality to understand our God is alive.

Father Andres: Today the Gospel says beautiful things, but after one experience to meet Jesus. Jesus came to them, Jesus appeared to them and they were afraid, they were terrified. But after Jesus would say, "Peace be with you." So the experience, the meeting with Jesus Is something that give us peace. And the peace is one connection with the future. But before to go to proclaim Jesus Christ we have to understand better our meeting with God, our experience of Jesus. The starting point is the last sentence of the Gospel. Jesus said, "You are witness of what has happened." It means, Jesus speaking to the Disciples, that they experienced everything Jesus himself was doing at the time when he was with them. So they had to recover many memories. They had to understand what was happening. They had to understand what Jesus was doing. They had to understand what Jesus was announcing at the time He was with them, to become witnesses of God.
