The Solemnity Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (Homily)

Today the texts of Scripture which the Church proposes for our reflection, recall the trial of Jesus by Pilate. In that trial, Pilate wanted to know if Christ was a king. Jesus' answer gave a different meaning to kingship in particular and leadership in general. Yes he is a king, but not of this world. His kingdom does not belong to this temporal order. He does not use force to rule. He comes with humility and He comes to speak the truth. And He said all those who belong to the truth, listen to his voice.
He does not use His strength to bully, He uses his strength in humility. To guide, to protect, to show mercy and to allow God's Grace to flow from Him to everyone. But the leaders of this world, use power to maintain their presence as leaders. Brute force. If we look around us today, we will see that those people that want to be rulers and kings at all costs, use a lot of force. They do not belong to the Truth so they and so they do not listen to the Voice of Christ, so they use power in a bad sense. If we look around recently the people that thought or continue to think they need to be leaders and they are suppressed, they become terrorists and the bring a lot of destruction, sorrow and pain to our hearts.
