The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Homily)

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Homily)

Homilies, Easter

entry.speaker.one().title

As we gather to celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, we are urged to reflect on the mystery by which God saves his people. In celebrating this feast we recall how Christ transformed ordinary fruits of human labor into his Body and Blood for the salvation of the world. When we come together to celebrate a feast of this nature, we reflect on how God loved the world to the point that he sacrificed his own life for in order to buy the life of the people He created in his image.

In celebrating Corpus Christi, we recall that all of us have been bought and paid for in full, so that we can have access to the mercy and love of God.  It is this that we celebrate in the Holy Eucharist.  And in the Holy Eucharist we remember how Jesus took bread and wine, ordinary food and drink, and transformed them into his Body and Blood, and commanded us to do this in remembrance of Him.  That whenever we eat His Body and drink His Blood, we should know that he lives within us.
