The Epiphany of the Lord (Homily)

The Epiphany of the Lord (Homily)

January 03, 2016 9:00 am  · Father Dan Vanyo

Homilies, Christmas & Epiphany

entry.speaker.one().title

In the first Reading from Isiah we hear "Nations shall walk by your light". All nations shall walk by your light, and with the Incarnation, Christ now on earth, there He is for all nations to adore. The magi knew, they were attracted to the Messiah, the King of the Jews.

They looked to Him for some redemption even though they were not Jewish.  They knew to go there.  They were attracted to Him.  And they were the first non-Jews, and here we are, attracted to Him.  They were led by the star, the brightness and the light of the star.  And we need to be stars to other people.  We need to be attractive to other people.  And I am not just talking about good looks.  We need to be attractive.  If we just have a sourpuss, if we don't look like we have any joy, then we are not going to attract anybody.
