Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Homily)

If you wish, you can make me clean. Can you imagine the joy that this man experienced on hearing Jesus declare him clean?
I do will it. Be made clean, and the leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean. Today we witness the wonderful healing power of Jesus as he restores a man to life by relieving him of the physical ailments of leprosy and the shame associated with it. Along with the suffering that comes with leprosy, lepers were cast out from family and friends, made to live apart from society outside of camp. Where they were considered to be ritually unclean, and kept from temple worship as if somehow they were too corrupt to find refuge in God.
