Homilies, Ordinary Time

entry.speaker.one().title

Two nights ago I saw a movie The Island from the year 2006, there are a number of movies called The Island by the way. This one was about a Russian Orthodox monk. In the north part of Russia by the Bering Sea, nothing's out there, but there was a Russian Orthodox Monastery and a port.

I really recommend the movie, I think just about everybody would like it, really.  It's not a documentary it is a movie.  And it's really cool, the script is good, he says some really profound things.  Again, I highly recommend it, The Island, just make sure you get the right one.  In this it takes place between World War II and the 1970's.  This holy monk, his job is to load the coal, so there is heat, and he sleeps on the coal pile.  He is doing this because when he was young, he acted very cowardly and committed an act that he continues to regret decades later.  So he is doing this for his penance.  It is purgatorial.
