Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion (Homily)

Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion (Homily)

Homilies, Lent

entry.speaker.one().title

Today is Palm Sunday, in a few minutes we've gone from the celebration of Jesus the King entering Jerusalem to His crucifixion and death on the cross. The followers of Jesus were stunned and shaken, sometimes our lives are like that. In a matter of days our lives are transformed by some sort of tragedy. And we find ourselves asking, "How could this happen to me?" or "How could God let this happen?"

Jesus' followers saw Him go from King to crucified in less than a week.  Even Jesus begged in his prayers that He wouldn't have to go through the crucifixion.  When we look at our own lives we can find ourselves doing the same thing.  We pray that we won't have to do something we dread or we're confused by events in our lives.  Even though Jesus didn't want to go through with the agony, He knew that there would also be a resurrection.   Most of us have had some tragedies in our lives, either from decision we've made or events that have happened that affect us.  We can let those things destroy our faith or we can use them to place our trust in God and take that experience to grow and help others.
