Today we are celebrating the Passion of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In this celebration, we recall how over 2000 years ago, Jesus gave himself up to be crucified like a common criminal so that he would pave the way for our salvation. All the accounts of the Passion point to the fact that Jesus was unjustly condemned. They point out that there was no single good reason for which Jesus should have to die. Yet he was condemned to death, however for us Christians these same scriptures make us understand that had Christ not died a vicarious death, we would have no means to reconcile with God or one another and would die in our sins.
