Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Homily)
August 07, 2016 7:00 am · Father David Mbimadong
Today our liturgy take us a step further from what we are being used to from week to week, it draw us to a faith, through faith in God and calls us to be alert as to what we do with our lives. In the Psalm we heard, "Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own" and if we are here together is it because the Lord has blessed us and chosen use. If He has chosen us it is for a purpose, to know Him and to bring Him to the world.
In the Gospel Jesus tells us, if the Lord has chosen us, we must be alert. Like servants waiting on their master, we must be alert because we don't know the time when the time will come. Unfortunately for some of us, when become Christians it is like a shirt we put on. We live a double life, when we are in church we are so holy, when leave the church, anything can be said of us, we are not bothered. But for most of us, when we begin to become Christians, we know whom we have chosen to be with. We want to look, to search for and to understand our faith so that we can journey with our Lord hand in hand.
