Homilies, Advent

Today I am going to behave like an advertiser on a radio station or a TV station. I am called to advertise Jesus Christ, and so I am ready to do so. Get ready, if it is too much, just tell me to stop. Friends in Christ on this fourth and last Sunday of Advent, we reflect on Mary's child, Jesus Christ, who comes to fill the world with His spirit of peace.

The prophet Micah foretold of a king that would arise from the line of David in Bethlehem, the smallest among the clans of the tribe of Judah.  Micah prophesied that this king is the Messiah.  He would lead his people with the authority and strength of God.  He would bring them peace.  The New Testament evangelists saw in the prophecy of Micah the announcement and the preparation for Jesus, the Son of God and the son of Mary.  St Matthew would use this text to narrate the episode of the journey of the wise men that came from the East to look for the new born king.  And the general resentful feeling of King Herod and the whole of Jerusalem with him.
