First Sunday of Advent (Homily)

First Sunday of Advent (Homily)

December 01, 2013 5:00 pm

Homilies, Advent

Father Juan: So we just started the Advent with a good friend, a good friend that is going to be with us all season. It is the prophet Isaiah, he is the great prophet of the Advent, especially in all of these passages that we read when he announces the new Jerusalem that new Earth and new Heaven that the Lord has prepared for us. Where every tear will be wiped from our faces, where the veil of darkness and sorrow will be removed from the peoples.

Father Juan continues:

Today we read the beginning of the book of Isiah, actually this was the second chapter, we had read the first in some other reading.  The prophet presents that new Heaven and new Earth that the Lord will create, will open to all of us at the second coming as the new Jerusalem that is set on high above all the other mountains, it is presented that's the meaning of word Jerusalem, "the city of peace", it is presented as a place where we will find peace, where we will be in perfect harmony with God.  Where God will be all in everybody and as a fruit of that harmony that we have with God, that perfect submission to His will, then we will have peace within us and peace with each other.
