Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Homily)
July 12, 2015 11:00 am · Deacon Rick Nevins

I would like to begin with a question. How would you react if God Himself, were to personally choose you, to summon you to go out into the world as his emissary, to assist in the gathering of the lost and the confused, by helping them to come to know the way, the truth and the life that leads to eternal joy? Would you be afraid to leave everyone behind but a walking stick? No food, no backpack, no money.
Would you be able to take up that mission knowing full well that many would reject you, because the message being delivered would entail a call to repentance and a change of life? Or do you think perhaps you might be more concerned with being accepted by your friends, family and co-workers? More concerned with being successful in the eyes of the world, than being faithful to the mission given you by our Father who art in Heaven. What if He were to send you on that mission and tell you , "Believe in Me, trust Me, I will be with you, in fact I will be dwelling within you." Would you believe it? Would you trust him?
