The information is provided to help parents determine which programs are right for their children. Please read all the information carefully and thoroughly. Note: You need to be a parishioner of St. Anne in order to sign up for classes.
Sessions in English begin on or after Monday, September 18th, 2017. We follow the GPS public school calendar for breaks, and give additional time off for Holy Days and Church activities. See below for class descriptions.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation):
Those who are age 7 and older, and not baptized, enter the church through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, or RCIA.
RCIA sessions are only offered on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm.
Registration in RCIA for children and teens is available online. For RCIA Adults, contact Aurora Sarmiento at 480-420-7729(PRAY) or 480-507-4433, or e-mail at email@example.com.
CGS Registration Information for English Sessions
CGS is a Montessori based method of Religious education which creates a “hands on” environment called an “atrium” in which children can hear, ponder and celebrate the most essential Mysteries of the Catholic faith as revealed in Scripture and Liturgy. CGS is approved in the diocese of Phoenix for the religious education of children ages 3-12. At St. Anne, CGS Sessions are offered for children in Preschool-First Grade, for children in second-fourth grade in need of sacrament preparation, and for children in fourth-sixth grade who have already received all sacraments of initiation, and desire continuing religious education using the CGS method. All CGS sessions run for 90 minutes regardless of age or time.
Following is a description of the different levels of CGS sessions, which will help you determine which level to select for your child. After determining which level your child needs, please fill out the registration form, selecting the day and time you would like along with the level of session your child needs. Please note, not all levels are available at all times. (It is best to begin with the oldest child) Unless only one choice is offered for your child, you will need to select an alternate day and time, in case your first choice is not available. Please note that volunteers receive priority placement for their children. If you can volunteer, please indicate this on your registration, and contact Micheal (Michelle) McConnell by email firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can determine the best position for you. Also, if your child has a special need that is significant and requires special considerations, please indicate this on your form and contact Micheal (Michelle) by email email@example.com or by phone (480) 507-4451, so that we can discuss your needs.
Level 1: For children ages 3-5 years who are already potty trained and can use the restroom independently. If your child is not baptized, you can still register for this level, but please also contact Sara Rassas atregarding infant baptism.
First Grade: For children ages 6 and up, who are in First Grade. If your child is not baptized, you can still register for this level, but please also contact Sara Rassas atregarding infant baptism.
Reconciliation Prep: First Reconciliation Preparation for baptized children age 7 and up, who are in Second through Fourth Grade. This is the first year of sacrament preparation, and must be completed before preparation for First Communion and Confirmation. You must submit a copy of your baptismal certificate to the front office, and attend a parent workshop in October. If your child is age 7 or older and not already baptized, please register for RCIA instead. For information on RCIA contact Donna Kano at firstname.lastname@example.org
Com/Conf Prep Returning: First Communion and Confirmation Preparation for Returning Children. This level is for baptized children age 8 and up, who are in Third or Fourth Grade, who already prepared with us in CGS last year for First Reconciliation. You will need to attend a parent workshop in November.
Com/Conf Prep New: First Communion and/or Confirmation Preparation for New Children. This level is for baptized children age 8 and up, who are in Third or Fourth Grade, who have already prepared for First Reconciliation at another parish, who are in need of preparation for First Communion and/or Confirmation. You must submit your child’s baptismal certificate, documentation of previous reconciliation prep such as a letter from the director of Religious education at your previous parish, and a certificate of First Holy Communion if this has already been received. You will also need to attend a parent workshop in November.
Level 3: For children age 9 and up, who are in Fourth-Sixth grade who have already received all sacraments of initiation including Confirmation, and desire to continue in the CGS method. (If your child is in Fifth or Sixth grade, and has already received the sacraments, you have the choice to select either the BATTLE program or CGS depending on your child’s preference)
Selecting the wrong level for your child can result in moving your child from the day and time you selected, to a day and time that is still available for your child at the level that is needed. Parents of children enrolling for sacrament preparation are required to attend one parent workshop for each sacrament needed. Information on dates and times of parent workshops can be found on the city in the CGS parent group.
Submitting your registration and payment does not guarantee the day and time you requested. Notifications will be emailed after registration has ended and all children have been placed in sessions. Please be patient and do not call to see what day and time you were assigned. Remember, not everyone can have their first choice as space is limited. If you must have a particular day and time, please sign up to volunteer. Children of volunteers are placed first. Volunteer training is required for all new volunteers and will take place over the summer.
