BATTLE: Becoming All That The Lord Expects
The purpose of this group is to teach 5th through 8th graders more about their faith, developing a relationship with God through prayer, learning acts of charity through apostolic work, and interacting with their peers in a safe environment. The four main pillars that we focus on are: Catechism, Prayer, Service and Social.
BATTLE meets on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. noon and on Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Every last Sunday of the month we have a “Mix it up Sunday" where the youth gets to learn about the saint of the month, and engage in fun activities with their peers. BATTLE also performs two service projects throughout the year as well as other social activities.
Activities, Events, News, and Information
What a wonderful time at the park with our youth! Thank you, Knights of Columbus and Parents! We played kickball, capture the flag, grubbed on some BBQ, and then ended the night with a mystery of the Rosary; allowing the youth to place at the feet of Mary and Jesus any intentions they had in their heart.
Our Lady of Fatima… Ora Pro Nobis.

Our monthly basketball game with our priests is here again! Come and challenge them in a friendly game of basketball this coming Monday, October 9th. We will have a few warm-up scrimmage games for the first hour with all the youth, and then the young adults vs priests for the remainder of the night. We will begin playing at 7:30pm at the courts located on the northeast side of Freestone Park. Hope to see you there! All are welcome!
Greetings in Christ,
In celebration of our beloved saint, St. Francis of Assisi, we will be celebrating the Blessing of the Animals on Wednesday, October 4th @ 6pm in the Church Courtyard.
St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, cared for the poor and sick, he preached sermons to animals, and praised all creatures as brothers and sisters under God. Animals are our companions on Earth, whether they be house pets or domesticated livestock; creatures great and small. We receive much from them: comfort and protection, as well as labor, food and clothing. This blessing is not about the created object, it is about us and our use of those objects, for the greater honor and glory of God as revealed in his creation.
I’ll close with the words of St. Pope John Paul II in his message on the World Day of Peace: Peace with God the Creator, Peace with all of Creation, “It is my hope that the inspiration of Saint Francis will help us to keep ever alive a sense of ‘fraternity’ with all those good and beautiful things which Almighty God has created. And may he remind us of our serious obligation to respect and watch over them with care, in light of that greater and higher fraternity that exists within the human family.”
One last thing, a woman asked me if she can bring her husband to be blessed. I will just clear this up now and say, NO.
